Anyone who thinks mallows bloom every year and without doing anything is wrong. There are types of mallow that do not survive the winter period. What should be considered?

Annual and perennial species of mallow
The most well-known types of mallow that are not hardy are the cup mallow and musk mallow. But there are also species that do not have to be sown every year. Provided with a winter protection, the following types of mallow survive for several years:
- wild mallow
- bush mallow
- tree mallow
- hollyhock
- flower mallow
Protect frost hardy mallows in winter
The mallows, which are hardy, should be lightly protected in winter, for example with a layer of straw, brushwood, or leaves. Mallows in pots on balconies and terraces should be brought indoors for the winter. Before overwintering, it is advisable to cut the plant back heavily.
tips
The overwintered mallows should be freed from their protective layer in mid-May or put back outside in their usual location.
