As a plant native to Brazil, the flowered mallow is not hardy. It generally does not tolerate cool temperatures and must be cared for indoors in winter. You should also keep indoor plants cooler in the cold season.

The right place to spend the winter
Temperatures below 18 degrees are already causing problems for the flowered mallow. If you grow the plant in a bucket on the terrace, bring the flower hollyhock into the house in good time.
Even in winter, the temperatures must not drop too much. A hibernation temperature of 12 to 16 degrees is ideal. The room should also be light, otherwise the flower will lose all its leaves.
If the maple is normally in the living room or another warm room, you should also keep it cooler during the winter months so that it can gather strength for the next year. Suitable rooms can be:
- Cool bedroom window
- corridor window
- Utility room with window
- Slightly heated conservatory
care during the winter
During the winter season, the flowered mallow is only sparingly watered so that the root ball does not dry out. Fertilizer is not required at all.
Watch the plant for pest infestation and cut off infested parts of the plant immediately so that the pests do not multiply too much.
Remove from winter quarters from January
Flowering mallow does not tolerate large temperature fluctuations. Slowly acclimate them back to warmer temperatures from January. She is only allowed to go outside after the ice saints.
Spring is the best time to repot the flowering hollyhock or to propagate it from cuttings. It is best to do this right away when you get the plant out of its winter quarters.
tips
Flowering mallows are slightly poisonous and should be placed in the house in such a way that neither children nor pets, especially cats, can get at them.
