Like the dianthus carnations, the campion (Silene) belongs to the carnation family. Like these, it prefers a location that is as sunny as possible.

The more sun the better
The easy-care campion prefers full sun on soil that is not too moist, permeable and humus-rich. The plant is particularly eye-catching in gravel gardens or in gardens designed to be close to nature. The plant, which grows up to 80 centimeters high, also comes into its own in perennial beds together with perennials such as holy herb (Santolina) or felty tomentosum (Cerastium tomentosum). Since campions can become quite wide, you should not plant more than five to seven plants per square meter. The otherwise easy-care plant does not tolerate moisture, especially winter moisture.
tips
Propagation is by seed, which is sown either immediately after maturity or in spring. However, the plant also sows itself willingly and in large numbers.
