There are different methods to process nuts. Each device has its advantages and disadvantages. The products differ mainly in terms of the effort required and the fineness of the end product. It is worth trying several variants.

These devices are suitable:
- nut mills: produce a fine flour in several steps
- lightning hacker: are more suitable for chopping
- Moulinette: enables different degrees of grinding through different inserts
- food processors: are primarily intended for coarse nut powder
- hand blender: process nuts into pieces
nut mills
Such devices can be operated by hand or with electricity, whereby the manual variants require a lot of effort. Crushing is done by turning a hand crank. There are different discs or drums that you can use to adjust the degree of grinding. Grinding is easier if you first use a coarse disc and work in several steps. This procedure is also recommended for electrical versions, which are suitable for larger quantities of nuts.
lightning hacker
Such specimens consist of a container inside which there are rotating cutting knives. These are connected to an attachment that contains the mechanical components. The movement of the knives is caused by cranking or turning. Some models have push or pull mechanisms.
The advantage of such kitchen gadgets lies in the quick processing of nuts. However, the mechanics require different amounts of effort. If you want to grind nuts, products with pushers are not recommended. They require the greatest muscular strength. There are now numerous electrically powered models on the market.
Moulinette
This device is the electrically operated counterpart to the lightning hacker and comes from the French company Moulinex. Translated, the term means something like “little mill”. In 1960 the first universal shredder (€199.99) was launched. To this day, the manufacturer produces robust and non-slip kitchen appliances with a stable housing.
A detachable plastic container is equipped with a cutter. Larger quantities of nuts can also be processed with the Moulinette without any problems. Appliances with a power of at least 500 watts are sufficient for use in the kitchen.
food processors
There are now a number of combination machines that you can convert into a nut mill in just a few simple steps. For the processing of nuts you need powerful motors and grinders equipped with stainless steel blades or drums. Not only the quick processing of large amounts of nuts proves to be advantageous, but also the simple cleaning of the individual parts in the dishwasher.
hand blender
Powerful hand mixers manage to crush the nuts with a little patience. Because the blades can easily get stuck in the mass and the device can get hot quickly, you should process the material in smaller portions. Also make sure you take enough breaks when grinding to cool down.
tips
Basically, you can use old coffee grinders for grinding. However, many nuts are harder than coffee beans, making the job more difficult.
