Summer jasmine is actually not jasmine at all and is not related to it. Rather, the correct name is "jasmine-flowered nightshade", botanically: Solanum jasminoides. Its white flowers are really impressive and the care is not particularly complicated.

location and soil
The summer jasmine, also known as the potato bush, thrives best in a sunny to partially shaded spot in the garden. This can be a house wall facing the sun or a bucket on the terrace, both of which can be provided with a trellis. In addition, the location should be sheltered from the wind and warm.
The summer jasmine makes quite a few demands on the soil. It is best if it is slightly moist, well-drained and loose, but also humus-rich and rich in nutrients. The potato bush is rather sensitive to waterlogging, which is why it should be avoided.
Water and fertilize summer jasmine
Be sure to keep the soil of your summer jasmine evenly moist. This means daily watering in a dry and/or hot summer so that the plant does not dry out. It is best to use rain or pond water, summer jasmine does not like cold tap water.
In addition to sufficient water, Solanum jasminoides needs fertilizer regularly because it has a high nutrient requirement. Add some liquid fertilizer to the irrigation water about every 14 days from March to September. Alternatively, you can also use compost and horn shavings (€32.93).
Summer Jasmine in Winter
The summer jasmine, which comes from South America, is not hardy, but it does not die immediately in the event of short-term frost. It can winter well cool, but prefers it only moderately cool. A warm winter hibernation in the living room is definitely not recommended. Then the summer jasmine tends to be infested with aphids or other pests.
The essentials in brief:
