Watering a lemon tree so that the plant gets exactly what it needs is not that easy. Because lemons are quite demanding when it comes to watering: they don't like dryness, but they don't get too wet either. It is therefore important to find the right balance.
Water the lemon tree daily in summer
To avoid waterlogging, you should ensure proper drainage in the plant pot. This is actually not that difficult, all you need to do is add some expanded clay to the lemon soil and pack a layer of pebbles on the bottom of the pot. In addition, there should be no reservoir in the cachepot or on the planting pad. Even if waterlogging is less than ideal, you can water your lemon tree daily during the growing season until the water comes out of the planting hole at the bottom. Heavily dried out plants that have not been watered for several days should be taken out of the plant pot and dunked with the entire root ball in a bucket filled with water. In winter there is little watering.
tips and tricks
Like almost all citrus trees, the lemon tree does not tolerate calcareous water. Therefore, always use lime-free water for watering, preferably rainwater. Tap water should be able to stand out for at least a week.
