The Palmengarten Frankfurt covers 22 hectares and is one of the largest gardens in Germany. Around 18,000 species from almost every vegetation zone on earth, cultivated in greenhouses or outdoors depending on their origin, have found a home here. This makes the Palmengarten one of the most species-rich botanical gardens in the world. A visit is worthwhile, not only because of the generous glass surfaces, at any time of the year.

description
In the middle of the city of Frankfurt, located in the residential district of Westend, you can embark on a botanical plant journey steeped in history. Founded by Duke Adolph von Nassau in 1868 as a result of a financial emergency, the facility is extremely modern today. In addition to the entrance show house, the tropicarium, subantarctic house and numerous greenhouses (€72.95) are among the crowd pullers. In these, arranged according to the climate zones of the world, you can experience the magic of tropical forests and barren cactus landscapes up close.
Your walk through the open country will take you through various themed gardens that change appearance with the changing of the seasons. In addition, the Palmengarten offers various events such as exhibitions, concerts, lectures and guided tours. The butterfly flight show, where you can see exotic butterflies, is also very popular.
But the Palmengarten Frankfurt not only has a lot to offer to those interested in nature. In the extensive complex you can play mini golf, go boating or explore the park with the Palmenexpress. Various restaurants and cafés invite you to enjoy culinary relaxation in the green oasis. The youngsters can let off steam in the beautifully landscaped children's playgrounds while you enjoy the peace and quiet.
tips
Frankfurt offers a variety of other parks, each with its own appeal. The "MainÄpplhaus Lohrberg" is something very special. The project is specifically dedicated to the topics of apples, horticulture and meadow orchards. Here you can take interesting courses and learn, for example, how to care for fruit trees or how to make wine from apples. The adjoining nature experience garden serves as a lively information center and meeting place for nature enthusiasts and hobby gardeners.
