Leather flower coasters

For this you need different colored leather remnants, glue, a punch and two self-made templates, for example a simple flower shape. One of the templates should be cut slightly smaller.

  1. Place the templates on the leather.
  2. Draw the shapes, one small and one large, on the leather and cut them out.
  3. You can use the punch pliers to punch patterns into the leather as desired.
  4. Now glue both pieces of leather together. Because a piece of leather is slightly smaller, the coaster has an attractive edge.

Make a coaster out of concrete

Do-it-yourself professionals like to venture into special production methods. A flower coaster made of concrete requires some skill.

Required material:

  • Ready mix concrete from the hardware store
  • cementitious paint or acrylic paint

  • mixing bucket
  • spatula
  • a mold for the coaster, for example a disused screw or can lid
  • possibly clear coat

Make coasters step by step

If you want to work with concrete, all the required materials and tools should always be within reach.

  1. First make the blank using the lid.
  2. Oil the lid before pouring concrete so that it comes off well after drying.
  3. Mix the concrete according to package directions. Add suitable color if you wish. Pour the concrete into the oiled lid.
  4. After 24 hours, knock the coaster out of the mold.
  5. Let it dry for another 24 hours.
  6. The blank can be ground if necessary.
  7. Finally, you can decorate the coaster according to your taste.
