Fans of beautiful handicrafts always have new ideas for unusual ornaments. A nice idea is to crochet a flower pot. With an unusual flower, the crocheted planter becomes a very personal gift.

The Crochet Flower Pot
Anyone who beautifies their windowsill with flowers and also likes to crochet can easily combine both hobbies.
A flower pot can be provided with a decorative, crocheted cover in no time at all. With different yarns and patterns, the crocheted pot becomes an eye-catcher on the windowsill.
If waterproof threads are used, the special flower pots can even stand on the balcony or terrace.
The necessary tools
In principle, all possible yarn residues can be used. Even plastic cords, raffia or thin packaging tape are suitable. All you need is the right crochet hook and simple instructions.

For the bottom, cast 6 chain stitches (LM) and close them with a chain stitch (CM) to form a ring.
- Now crochet two single crochet stitches (sc) in each ch so that the ring now consists of 12 stitches (sts). Finish the row with a sc on the first sc.
- Alternately crochet 1 dc, then 2 dc in the following st, st 18 in total.
- Row 3: Continue working 1 dc, then 2 dc in next st, then 2 separate dc again, 1 dc at the end, 24 sts in total.
- Round 5: 2 dc, then 2 dc continuously in the next stitch, 4 dc, end 2 dc, total 36 sts
- Round 6: 5 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, 42 sts in total
- Round 7: 3 sc, then continuously 2 sc in the next stitch, end of row 6 sc, 48 sts in total
- Round 8: 7 dc continuously, then 2 dc in next stitch, 54 sts in total
The bottom can be made larger with further increases. Now we are working upwards.
If the pot is straight, there are no increases. You now always stitch into the back loop of the stitch and work in rounds until the required height is reached.
If the flower pot is tapered, increases are required. In round 1 add 2 sc in every 9th st. In round 2 there are 2 sc in every 10th st etc. Crochet in this way up to the edge of the pot. A pretty border can be crocheted at the end.
