She shouldn't just dump dirt in her boots and plant plants. Planting rubber boots also requires some preparation. For this you need:

- a small shovel
- Sandpaper (if you want to paint the rubber boots)

1. Provide drainage
Drainage is the be-all and end-all of a good flower pot, even if it's shaped like rubber boots. Now you may think that you are not watering too much and therefore do not need drainage. But… you don't want to put your boots in the apartment, do you? It's raining outside and the rainwater has to be able to drain off, otherwise the plants will rot due to waterlogging.
Therefore, grab the cordless drill and use it to drill several holes in the sole of your rubber boots.
2. Optional: painting
Wellies are naturally waterproof, that's what they're there for. Therefore, the painting serves less to protect them from moisture and has more a decorative purpose. If you like it colorful or shabby chic, you can paint your boots nicely.
To do this, first roughen the smooth surface all around so that the color sticks. Now you can either paint the rubber boots in one color or spray on a white background color and then shade it with other colors to create a shabby effect.
3. Fill boots
Fill the boots one-third full with pebbles. These ensure stability and good drainage. Then put another third of garden soil in the boot.
4. Put plants
Now place the plants in the boots and fill the space with soil. Make sure that there is at least two centimeters of watering space between the edge of the rubber boot and the soil.
tips
If the boots are not made of rubber, you should put a plastic bag with drainage holes on the pebbles and put soil and plants in this. This is how you slow down the degradation process of the boot material.
