One thing is very important for a high-yield zucchini harvest: a place in the sun and as sheltered from the wind as possible. Zucchini plants like warmth and a loose, nutrient-rich soil, in the vegetable or flower bed or in the balcony tub.

The zucchini in the vegetable patch
The courgettes feel at home in the vegetable patch between runner beans, leeks, spinach and nasturtium
and onions. Since potatoes are also heavy feeders, zucchini should not be grown directly next to them. Zucchini plants usually grow bushy, so they require a lot of space. The zucchini needs about 1.5 to 2m².
Balcony zucchini
If you grow the zucchini on the balcony, you have to put the tub in a sunny place, even in the midday sun. A south-facing balcony is ideal.
tips and tricks
To improve the soil, you can mix in compost before planting. Even if the plants are larger, fertilizing with compost is worthwhile.
