Mix bamboo soil yourself or buy it? It doesn't have to be the cheapest or the most expensive product. In general, the pH value should be below 7.0. Only the right composition, including fertilizer, guarantees permanently green leaves and healthy growth.

In which soil can the bamboo be planted?

Bamboo plants want a water-permeable, loose, sandy-loamy to humus-rich soil with a crumbly structure. If the planting site has wet, heavy clay soil, the excavated soil should be mixed with compost, potting soil or special bamboo soil and horn shavings (€32.93) added.

Bamboo soil - what makes the difference?

Soil with a pH below 7.0 is ideal for bamboo plants. In addition, the nutrient release at the site must be well organized, because as an evergreen, hardy plant, they require a lot of energy.

Special bamboo soil or potting soil? Even with the same pH value, they differ not only in price. The advantages of a special bamboo soil:

  • ready-to-use substrate for all bamboo plants
  • Mixture of white peat, compost, stone flour and lava granules
  • retains moisture
  • prevents waterlogging due to the high proportion of clay minerals
  • including special bamboo long-term fertilizer

Special bamboo soil is tailored to the needs of all bamboo species. The fertilizer depot guarantees an optimal nutrient supply for 2 to 3 months. Intense leaf green and healthy growth, even with potted and tub plants, are the visible success.
