Summer and winter squashes are usually distinguished from each other. The bright orange-red Hokkaido pumpkin is one of the winter pumpkins and can be stored for about three to four months after harvesting. So you can still draw on a vitamin and nutrient-rich supply even in winter.

Harvest from August
The first Hokkaido pumpkins can ripen as early as late July / early August, but this type of pumpkin has its peak season from September to November. The actual ripening and thus harvesting time depends on the time of sowing in spring and on the weather.
tips and tricks
Hokkaido squash is significantly more nutritious than other winter squash varieties. The best way to preserve its high vitamin and mineral content is to chop and freeze the fruit immediately after harvesting.
