When are the hazelnuts ripe?
The hazelnut is already edible at the beginning of August, but is not yet fully ripe. Its core is light, soft and mild in taste in August. At the end of September, the hazelnut is fully ripe and can be harvested. The ripening time of the hazelnut basically depends on:
- the sort
- the climate
- the location
How can you recognize them?
You can recognize ripe hazelnuts by the fact that they are lying on the ground, they have a hazelnut-brown outer shell and a dried and brown-colored fruit cup. The edible seed inside the nut shell is brown and firm.
