Experienced hobby gardeners mix the different varieties when planting monthly strawberries. This ensures that a healthy fruit snack is always available on the snack balcony.
Useful tips for planting monthly strawberries
A sunny, warm location is essential for best growth and a bountiful harvest. If you plant monthly strawberries in a nutrient-rich, humus-rich and well-drained substrate, you are on the right track. Ideally, you prepare the potting soil in good time so that it can set for 2 weeks. Please also note the following tips for professional planting:
- the optimal soil is enriched with compost, horn shavings (32.93€) or manure
- in the bucket and flower box (€16.99) drainage made of potsherds prevents any waterlogging
- a planting distance of 20-25 centimeters is considered ideal
- Only plant monthly strawberries so deep that the heart bud is above the soil surface
If you prefer a date in spring for planting, your pupils are threatened by ground frost at night. You can effectively prevent frostbite by covering it with fleece or foil. The substrate stays warm longer under a protective layer of bark mulch.
tips and tricks
Only pick through-colored strawberries, as they will not ripen. The fruit retains its flavor much longer if you leave the sepals and stalks on until ready to eat.
