The small, sweet fruits can only be stored to a limited extent. We report on necessary conditions that keep the delicious harvest fresh well into the fall.

Delicious preferences
When apricots slowly gained a foothold in Europe many centuries ago, they were kept in cool cellars after harvest. Today, most cellars no longer meet these requirements. Alternatively, you can store fruit in the bottom compartment of the refrigerator.
After the apricot harvest, this can be a great way to gradually consume the tasty fruit. Apricots can hardly be stored, but 3 to 4 days in the fridge are acceptable. The ideal temperature is between 2 and a maximum of 5 degrees Celsius.
Notice:
- do not store too warm
- Danger: 70% of the vitamins are lost
Depending on the variety, apricots continue to ripen for 1 to 3 days at room temperature. These fruits can be kept right in the kitchen with a clear conscience. On particularly warm days, these are a point of attraction for fruit flies. Simply stud a lemon with cloves. The natural household remedy deters the small blackheads in the vicinity of fruit.
Just before consumption
The sweet fruits have an intense aroma. Each variety has its own charm. Always take apricots out of the fridge 1 to 2 hours before eating, so that this aromatic note can unfold. Placed in a shallow dish, avoid bruises.
Attention: water
Moist apricots spoil faster. Wash the fruit just before eating. If harvested apricots are a little damp, they must be dried thoroughly in the air before storage. They can spend about 1 to 2 hours in a shady spot in the garden.
tips and tricks
If the apricot tree produces a plentiful yield, the fruits are suitable for preserving or drying.
