Papayas not only amaze with their relatively fast growth and their papaya flowers growing directly on the trunk. They cannot simply be classified into a fixed pattern when the ripe papayas are harvested.

Enjoy fresh papayas all year round
Nowadays, fresh papayas from growing areas in Central America, South America and Asia can be bought in grocery stores all year round in this country. Since these are shipped here in a semi-ripe state, you usually have to let them ripen a little more at home when you eat them as sweet fruit. Since papayas need relatively constant temperatures between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius all year round to produce fruit, we can only cultivate them as houseplants or potted plants. The flowers and fruits form all year round with sufficient heat, depending on the time of sowing.
tips and tricks
If your papayas do not fully ripen in autumn due to the lack of sufficiently warm weather, you can use the still unripe fruits to make curries, chutneys and salsas like vegetables using recipes from Laos and Thailand.
