French lavender is an extremely sun-loving plant native to the milder coastal regions of the Mediterranean. Therefore, this type of lavender does not tolerate frost at all, so that appropriate winter quarters are required.

French lavender needs a light and cool place
However, you should not overwinter the plants in the heated living room, because French lavender needs a cool - but frost-free - location between five and ten degrees Celsius during the cold season. In addition, it should be as bright as possible, so a dark basement or similar is not very suitable. It is better to overwinter the plants in an attic, in a garden shed (€24.90) in an unheated bedroom or in a (not drafty) stairwell. In addition, the French lavender also needs water in winter, but you should be careful. Water the plant just enough to keep the soil from drying out. Too moist soil often leads to root rot, especially in winter, and the French lavender dies.
tips and tricks
From March / April you can put the lavender outside again by the hour on warm days. However, slowly acclimate the plant to the sun and bring it back in at night.
