Savory is considered to be very easy to care for and is suitable for growing in the garden or in pots on the balcony or on the windowsill. The herb survives a little dryness much better than too much moisture.

What does savory really need?

Both summer savory and mountain savory like it sunny and warm. Both require well drained soil that is slightly calcareous. They do not tolerate waterlogging at all. If the soil is too firm, it can be loosened with sand or fine gravel.

Mountain savory is hardy, but if you have it in a pot on the balcony, it is better to keep it in a cool room over the winter. The stairwell or the basement are also suitable for this.
