As an evergreen subshrub, sage develops a lush foliage and thus evaporates a lot of water. Since the herbal plant also comes from the dry Mediterranean region, it does not tolerate permanently wet soil. The following tips reveal how the perfect water supply is designed:

- Water young sage regularly and generously
- Let the soil dry between waterings
- From the second year water only when there is no rain
- Water occasionally in winter when it's not freezing
In the tight substrate volume of a pot, sage is dependent on regular watering even in later years. If the surface of the earth feels dry, it is watered.
Water the seed pots from below
In the course of sowing or propagation by cuttings, the delicate sage plants do not tolerate irrigation from above. When dry, place the pots in 5 centimeters of water that rises due to capillary action. Check the moisture level of the substrate with your thumb in order to lift the seed pots (€16.68) out of the water in good time.
