Unfortunately, lawn edging stones are not always the right size. Therefore, sometimes they have to be cut to the required dimensions. In order for the cut to succeed, you need the right tool and the right technique.

What should be considered when cutting lawn edging stones?

  • Always cut on firm, level ground where the stone cannot slip.
  • The thicker the stone, the stronger the disc of your cut-off machine should be: For narrow stones (less than 10 cm) a 125 is sufficient, for thicker stones you should rather use a 180 or 230 flex.
  • Wet the stone with water while cutting to reduce dust formation! Make sure, however, that the electronics do not get wet!

Instructions for cutting lawn edging stones

  • water
  • tape measure
  • Pencil or something similar for marking
  • 125, 180 or 230 flex with diamond disc
  • hose or watering can

1. Marking

Measure exactly what dimensions your lawn edging stones should have and mark the intersections on both sides (!) of the stone.

2. Cut

Place the stone on a level, firm surface and start by making a straight, flat cut along the marking in one stroke to create a straight cut. Then drive into this mark several times with more pressure until you have cut about halfway through the stone.

While cutting, a second person should use a water hose to run a fine trickle of water onto the stone. In this way, the pane is cooled and no dust flies up.

3. Completely cut through

Now turn the stone over and cut down the middle from the other side. It is very important that you measure correctly so that the cuts meet straight down the middle.

Keep cutting until the stone is completely severed. Alternatively, you can use a hammer and chisel to break up narrow stones after you have cut them on both sides.
