Torch lilies with their decorative inflorescences only thrive in a favorable location. If they are too dark, too moist or lack nutrients, the ornamental perennials will not bloom or only bloom very sparingly. Site selection tips.

The right location for torch lilies
- full sun
- sheltered from the wind
- Not too wet
- Slightly calcareous soil
The perennials, native to Africa, need a lot of sun in summer. In the shade they form little or no flowers.
The long, slender inflorescences must be protected from too much draft, as they break easily.
Torch lilies tolerate short periods of drought, but cannot cope with a location that is too damp. Make sure the soil is permeable to prevent waterlogging.
tips and tricks
In winter, hardy torch lilies need protection against the blazing winter sun. Therefore, tie the leaves of the perennial together at the top.
