Regular lawn mowing is probably one of the jobs that hardly anyone likes to do. However, you can make the work a lot easier if you separate the lawn from beds and paths with a lawn mowing edge.

Lay the lawn mowing edge
Border the lawn with one or more rows of lawn edging stones. This not only saves you cutting off the lawn. At the same time, they prevent the lawn from spreading to beds and paths.
Lay a mowing edge out of:
- stones
- aluminum
- iron
- wood
- plastic
In the specialist garden store you will receive advice on which materials for lawn edging are particularly suitable for your purposes. If you want it cheaper, you can also use old roof tiles or leftover cobblestones.
The mowing edge makes lawn care a lot easier because you don't have to constantly pull grass out of the beds and paths. At the same time, it provides a decorative eye-catcher in the garden and makes it look generally more well-groomed.
Lay lawn edging stones at ground level
If you don't want to cut off the lawn edges by hand, you should place the lawn edging stones in such a way that the upper edge is no more than one to two centimeters above the grass surface.
It is even better if the edge of the lawn ends at ground level, because then you can simply cut the lawn edging stones with the mower when mowing the lawn without damaging the mower blades or other plants.
Cut the lawn regularly without lawn edging stones
The grass plants have a bad habit of spreading throughout the garden. This is the case, for example, with the so-called English lawn edge, where lawn and flower beds or paths merge seamlessly into one another.
If the lawn is not bordered by a lawn edge made of lawn edging stones, you have to grab a spade and cut the lawn at least every eight weeks.
You then have to rake up the lawn waste and either compost it or dispose of it with organic waste. With a lawn mowing edge, you can save yourself this work and still have a very neat-looking lawn edge.
tips and tricks
Even if the lawn edge is slightly higher than the lawn surface, it can still be trimmed with the lawn mower. To do this, simply ride a bike along the edge. As a result, the blades do not come into contact with the lawn mowing edge.
