Bellflowers should be watered moderately, especially in sunny locations and during dry periods. However, it is important not to overdo the watering, because the plants are very sensitive to waterlogging.

Bluebells are grateful for regular fertilization with organic fertilizers, more is not necessary. Mature compost, which is used for mulching in the spring, is best suited, as well as a little nettle manure every two weeks together with the irrigation water.

Basically, an annual pruning is not necessary, only the dead parts of the plant and withered flowers should be removed. However, to stimulate growth and flowering, the bellflower can also be cut back to a hand’s breadth.

Bluebells are propagated either by seed or by division. When growing seeds, however, you need to know exactly what species it is. Some Campanula species belong to the dark germs and others to the light germs. Many seeds also germinate best if they are initially stored in the refrigerator for a few weeks.
