You can not only plant gypsophila in pots but also buy them straight away. This is especially true for the colored annual varieties. Take a look around a good nursery, the offer is very tempting.

Which pots are suitable for gypsophila?
The pot or planter for your gypsophila (lat. Gypsophila paniculata) should be large enough. For space-saving reasons, this is not always the case with purchased plants. Then it is best to repot your gypsophila right away. Gypsophila does not like wet feet and does not tolerate waterlogging at all. Therefore, create a drainage layer in the pot. You can use shards of pottery or coarse gravel for this.
Since gypsophila prefers a calcareous poor soil, pure potting soil is not particularly suitable. Mix in a little sand, lime, grit (€46.95) or gravel and your baby's breath will feel better and the chances of a lush bloom will also increase. You should also not water your gypsophila too often. It tolerates drought quite well.
How do you overwinter gypsophila in a pot?
Gypsophila is ideal for balcony planting and the perennial varieties are also winter-proof. Nevertheless, you should protect potted and tub plants from severe frost and above all from too much rain in winter. Otherwise it requires no further maintenance.
To protect against frost, it is advisable to wrap the planters in bubble wrap, a blanket or something similar. Then place the plants in a rain-protected place. Of course, you can also store your gypsophila in the greenhouse or in the conservatory. A bright, cool room in the house is also suitable for wintering. Annual gypsophila cannot be saved over the winter. Buy new plants in spring.

tips and tricks
Are you waiting in vain for your gypsophila to bloom profusely? Check the potting soil. If the soil is too moist or too rich in nutrients, your baby's breath will only flower moderately or not at all.
