The gentian likes it sunny, but not too much direct sunlight

The perfect place for gentians

  • Partial shade, sunny
  • Not too long exposure to direct sunlight

  • Nutritious Earth
  • Not too dry or too wet
  • Depending on the type of gentian, calcareous or acidic soil

Clusius gentian is the most commonly planted. He feels particularly at home in the rock garden. Koch's gentian prefers bright places under other shrubs or conifers.

Potted gentians should be placed on the terrace or balcony, sheltered from the wind. Direct exposure to the sun over a long period of time must be avoided.

Gentian does not belong in the house. The plants die there after a short time.

tips and tricks

Gentian, the alpine flower, is hardy. In harsh locations, however, it must be overwintered in a protected place. If you plant them in a favorable place, then additional winter protection is superfluous.
