Loyal to men is not really hardy because it hardly tolerates frost. Although there are perennial breeds of the lobelia, the blue lobelia (the men's faithful) is usually sold as an annual perennial and sown anew every year.

The lobelia should hibernate cool but frost-free, however, men's loyalty does not always sprout again after the hibernation. New seeding, on the other hand, is more successful. Sow in pots or in the greenhouse from January. Since the men's faithful is a light germ, the seeds may only be covered with a little soil. The ideal germination temperature is 16 - 18 °C.
