There are many different types of investment for allotment gardens. One swears by the clean kitchen garden, which is intended to ensure self-sufficiency with fresh fruit and vegetables. Others like it more the Mediterranean way and another relatively popular trend in this country is towards natural gardening.

A little forgotten, but the traditional cottage garden is currently on the rise again as a varied mixture of the useful AND the beautiful. Discreetly shimmering red cabbage is found next to bright yellow marigolds. Lettuce, carrots and onions together with red flowering wild roses and a luxuriant, colorful splendor of perennials - not only is there something to look at, there is something for the nose and palate too.

Perennial care in September
When replanting your garden with perennials in autumn, it can make sense to limit the spread of individual species. With this strategy you promote the growth of weaker plants considerably. While the plants should be completely cut back or mowed later in winter, the main task in autumn is to clean the planted areas and remove dried parts of the plants. When it comes to weeding perennial beds, hand weeding is clearly preferable to hoeing. Watering, mulching and fertilizing contribute to an often unwanted vitalization, especially in perennial plants. Therefore, this work should only be carried out rarely and depending on the current plant growth and the weather. With moderate pruning, most perennial species can be stimulated to sprout again or to bloom again in the right climate.
