Select trellis fruit variety

Everyone is welcome to pull their favorite fruit as a trellis, provided the location does not contradict it. However, it should be grafted onto a slow-growing rootstock. It is also helpful if the tree has received its first pruning in the nursery. This makes it easier to continue the given form.

Hardy climbing fruit such as kiwi and grapes can also be grown as a trellis, as can berry bushes.

Fruit trees develop strong, supporting branches over time. Espalier trees still need a suitable trellis to attach their branches in the desired position.
