Grapes can be used in many ways and offer a taste enrichment. They are not necessarily dependent on wine-growing regions with a mild climate. Some varieties can also be planted in northern Germany.

These are good vines:
- ,Regent'
- 'Theresa'
- 'Birstal Nutmeg'
,Regent'
The medium-growing variety proves to be extremely robust against powdery mildew. Its flowers survive late frosts, so you can also plant this grape variety outside of wine-growing regions with mild winters. Place the shrub on a west or south-east facing house wall. The regent prefers direct sunlight. Its low stature makes it the perfect plant for the tub.
Water the vine regularly. The fruits get a little bigger if the plant gets a lot of water. Regent bears fruit for the first time in the second or third year. They are blue and can be harvested from mid-September. The thick skin hides juicy flesh with a fruity sweetness.
'Theresa'
This Hungarian variety ripens late and develops particularly large fruits. Place the vine in a full sun and sheltered spot. House walls facing south or west offer ideal thermal conditions. The grape variety only feels comfortable outdoors if it is sheltered from the wind and gets a lot of sun. In the first few years, the grapevine is susceptible to berry wilt and sunburn.
The infructescences reach a length of up to 30 centimeters and are filled with yellow-green berries. Their taste varies from sweet and sour to very sweet. The fruit acid is lost during ripening. 'Theresa' develops berries with few seeds, which are ripe for consumption between mid-September and November.
'Birstal Nutmeg'
The grapevine proves to be resistant to fungal diseases. This makes it the preferred variety for exposed locations and in areas characterized by humid weather. Because of its hardy characteristics, this strain can be cultivated in a foil tent or greenhouse.
It convinces with a high flowering resistance. Thinning out immediately after flowering promotes fruit ripening. A maximum of two grapes should remain on one shoot. From the end of September you can enjoy the berries or leave them hanging longer. This improves the taste. The yellow berries have a sweet aroma and are reminiscent of nutmeg.
