A garden pond undoubtedly brings with it a lot of atmospheric atmosphere. Unfortunately, of course, there are also costs. Depending on the personal contribution, these can also be kept within limits. In the following, we want to provide an orientation overview.
The cost of the garden pond depends primarily on the size and the materials used

Of course, you can create your own pond as far as possible. This not only gives you the advantage of free design and size design, but also some cost savings. If you want to save time and effort instead of money, you can have everything built by professionals. In general, the following cost areas in particular must be included:
- Material for the pool (foil or prefabricated pool)
- If applicable, costs for digging the trough
- Possibly technical equipment

The cost of the pool depends on whether you opt for a prefabricated pool or a free design with foil. You can get a small prefabricated pool with a capacity of around 50 liters from around 30 euros, the basic equipment for a liner pond - i.e. pond liner and protective fleece - amounts to around 50 to 120 euros, depending on the pond size.
Excavate the trough
An important cost issue arises when digging the pond trough. A lot can be saved here by doing your own work - but of course it is not always possible or advisable to swing the shovel yourself. Depending on the planned pond size and soil conditions, it is easy to overestimate yourself here.
If you want to make your pond larger than 5 m² in surface area, you should have it built rather than develop excessive ambition. At the very least, help from a motorized device is recommended - and savings can also be made here. Renting a mini excavator for a day and driving it yourself is possible for around 120 euros. Having a trained landscaper do this work can take several hours of work at 50 to 60 euros.
Technical Equipment
If you only want to install water features or decorative lighting in your pond, you don't need to calculate much. A fountain pump is available from around 50 euros. In order to save on operating costs, it is worth investing in a solar panel system as a power source.
A filter pump system for larger ponds with a water volume of around 5000 liters is more expensive. For this you have to calculate about 160 to 350 euros.
