Have you ever seen a rare rainbow eucalyptus? This impressive tree is characterized by its colorful shimmering trunk, which also gave it its name. You will be amazed by the sight. And now the good news: You can also bring the beautiful tree into your own garden. With your own rearing, you can do this without investing too much money in a young plant.

cuttings or seeds?
Growing eucalypts from cuttings is not particularly recommended. Cultivation from seeds promises much more success. You can get these at the nursery, although you should search the internet for rainbow eucalyptus seeds. The tree is considered very exotic and is therefore not represented in every assortment. Already own a rainbow eucalyptus? Then you can of course also take the seeds from the existing plant.
substrate
A specially mixed substrate is an advantage so that the rainbow eucalyptus can develop well. Choose for this
- potting soil
- coconut hummus
- conventional sand
- Birms
- perlite
- or peat
It is particularly important that the substrate is permeable. Waterlogging damages the rainbow eucalyptus.
manual
- Fill a nursery pot with a mixture of the above types of soil.
- Place the seeds on the surface and press them down very lightly.
- Keep the growing soil moist.
- Place the growing pot in a sunny spot at a temperature of 20-25°C.
