The eucalyptus azura is small and compact. Due to its relatively low growth height, there is still room for a second tree of its kind on the balcony or terrace. You don't have to spend any money in the tree nursery for this. On this page you will learn how to propagate the eucalyptus azura yourself.

Propagation via seeds is almost always crowned with success

seed

To propagate the eucalyptus azura you need seeds. Do you already own a eucalyptus azura? Perfect, then you can take the seed from the existing plant. However, if you cultivate the tree as a houseplant, you must assume that your newly grown eucalyptus will not bloom. Otherwise, you will have to buy the seeds from specialist retailers. But even here the probability of an early flowering is very low.

sowing instructions

time

The best time to propagate a eucalyptus azura is spring. At this point, nature offers the best conditions for rapid growth. If you start rearing in winter, storing the seed pot requires additional lighting. The eucalyptus azura needs a lot of light to develop.

Action

  1. To increase germination, you should stratify the eucalyptus seeds beforehand.
  2. Store the seeds in the refrigerator for about a week.
  3. Then fill a seed pot with a mixture of sand and peat.
  4. Place the seeds on the substrate and press them down only slightly (the eucalyptus needs light to germinate).
  5. Store the seed pot in a bright place at a constant temperature of 22-24°C.
  6. Now you have to be patient for around three weeks until the first shoots appear.
  7. When the first leaves appear, prick out the young tree and repot it in a larger pot.
  8. Use compost for this.
  9. Decide for yourself whether you want to plant your eucalyptus azura outdoors or cultivate it in a bucket on the terrace, balcony or as a houseplant.
