Do you already have a eucalyptus in the garden and would you like to enrich your home with the handsome deciduous tree or vice versa? It couldn't be easier. With the instructions on this page you can inexpensively propagate your eucalyptus yourself.

Eucalyptus is best propagated from seed

seed

A eucalyptus is propagated by sowing. The eucalyptus germinates in the light, so you should prefer the tree in a nursery pot. You buy the seeds you need

  • On the Internet
  • At the tree nursery
  • From an existing plant

Note: eucalypts grown from seed themselves will not flower. Especially if the mother plant is an indoor culture, you will hope in vain for the creamy white flowers.

manual

For the cultivation it is best to use a cultivation vessel that you fill with a mixture of peat and sand. Remember that the seeds of the eucalyptus must not sink into the ground, but need light to germinate.

time

The best time to multiply your eucalyptus is in the spring. Then the temperature and light conditions are best. If you then want to put your eucalyptus outside, it has enough time to use the growth phase to take root.
If you start multiplying in winter, you need an additional light source.

Action

  1. Fill the growing pot with moist growing soil.
  2. Place the seeds on the surface and press them down very lightly.
  3. Place the nursery pot in a warm, bright place.
  4. The germination time depends on the temperature and amounts to an average of three weeks.
  5. If shoots are 10-15 cm long, you can transplant the eucalyptus.

planting

The cultivation in special potting soil should now follow compost soil. Whether you keep the eucalyptus in a bucket on the terrace or balcony, in the garden or in the house is entirely up to you. The deciduous tree thrives in both cool and warm locations. However, you should repot the tree regularly.
