The Douglas fir from the nursery is often only half a meter high. It's an acceptable start, but the goal is a sizeable tree. The expectations of the purchased copy are therefore high. How many cm will it gain per year?

A fast growing species
The Douglas fir is considered a fast-growing tree species that easily outperforms the native spruce. You can count on this annual increase:
- ideally with approx. 40 cm
- under less than optimal conditions with 20 cm
Location as a growth factor
The annual growth rate of a Douglas fir is closely related to its living conditions. An unsuitable location slows down growth, an unfavorable one can even cause it to collapse completely.
Ideal growing conditions
The Douglas fir, which comes from North America, likes sunny to partially shaded places in this country. If she is also allowed to extend her roots into fresh, moist and nutrient-rich soil, she will provide maximum height growth.
tips
Especially with young trees, make sure that they are watered regularly, which must not be interrupted even in winter.
