Why plum trees need pruning
The fruit trees belong to the plum family and grow less tall than expansive and bushy in all directions. In addition, the Mirabelle grows at a rapid pace. It is therefore crucial to cut the mirabelle plum in good time, otherwise not all leaves and branches would get the full amount of light and air. The delicious fruits may then not fully ripen until harvest time between August and September.

Mirabelle trees bloom from April to May. So that nothing stands in the way of a high harvest yield, you should prune your trees before this phase in February or March or as early as autumn. Winter pruning can lead to fungal diseases in Mirabelle plums and should therefore be avoided.
