The Bougainvillea is considered a plant that is not easy to cultivate - at least in this country. The right location is a decisive factor in accommodating the colorful climbing beauty. Read below what you need to consider.

It must be warm and sunny
Since bougainvillea comes from the Andes region between Ecuador and Brazil, plenty of sun and warmth is a must for them. It is therefore best to treat it to a south-facing location where the sun can shine unhindered at any time of the day. This can be at a large living room window or at best in the conservatory and in summer outside on the terrace.
So, the best bougainvillea location is:
- as warm and sunny as possible
- facing south
- all day sun exposure
On stone walls in summer
If you put your bougainvillea outside in the summer, it's a good idea to let them climb up a heat-retaining house or patio wall. So you can still enjoy the radiant heat even after the sun has set - it is also a wonderful wall decoration.
