The paprika gives many dishes a strong, unmistakable taste and brings variety to the plate with its fresh colors. The classic salad vegetables are of course also roasted, grilled or boiled for a culinary delight. But at the very beginning of the preparation is the cleaning of the vegetables, i.e. the pitting.

With the right approach, almost all of the seeds can be removed in one go

Deseed the peppers - different ways lead to the goal

Depending on what the peppers are going to be used for, raw or cooked, as a side dish or main dish, the method of removing the seeds and skins will vary. It is always important to use a pointed, sharp knife in order to be able to work cleanly.

Processing in crushed state

For soups, casseroles, vegetable stews or salads, it is sufficient to halve the peppers lengthwise, cut out the base of the stalk from both halves and carefully remove the white inner skin. Then the vegetables can be cut into strips or cubes and processed further.
Alternatively, just as effective is cutting off both ends of the peppers and then using the knife to separate the skins along the pepper wall. In this way you can cut decorative pepper rings for a salad plate.

processing as a whole

If you want to fill the peppers, they must of course not be cut up when cleaning.
Nevertheless, a pointed, sharp knife is used to remove the seeds and skins. First, cut off a thick top (do not leave the stalk attached) and carefully remove the seeds and skins from the inside of the vegetable with the tip of a knife.
Now the peppers can be filled with minced meat, rice or something similar, the cut off lid serves as a closure so that the contents cannot fall out during cooking.
For a very unusual removal technique, all you need is the screw cap of a soda bottle. After the stalk has been removed from the peppers, the cap is carefully twisted into the peppers and the entire core is also removed. In this way, the peppers only retain a small hole and can be filled according to taste.
