Roses are beautiful specimen plants, but the rose bed looks even more beautiful when supported by attractive companion plants. Below you will find beautiful ideas on how to arrange your rose bed and three planting plans for replanting.

Nice ideas for the rose bed
- Roses and light-colored stones look so pretty together, which is why many rose lovers cover rose beds with gravel. But individual large stones also have a decorative effect in the rose bed, especially if you let them overgrow with ground cover.
- Ground covers are often combined with roses because they keep weeds away and ensure an attractive carpet of flowers.
- Grasses also go well with roses, as they gently support the spectacle of flowers with their green stalks swaying in the wind.
- Roses are not just roses. Choose your roses wisely and pay attention to hardiness, location requirements, flower color and growth height.
The Mediterranean, herbal rose bed for replanting
Lavender and roses are a true dream team. Not only do they go together beautifully, lavender also keeps aphids away from roses. This planting plan is suitable for locations in full sun. When buying the herbs, make sure they are winter hardy!
In our example, we assume a round or square bed. If your bed is rather elongated, you can adjust the distribution of the plants accordingly.
Create your herbal, fragrant rose bed with a Mediterranean flair as follows:
- Center a climbing rose or two with an attractive climbing frame with pink or white flowers.
- Between and on either side of these roses put hardy dwarf cypresses.
- Plant a ring of pink flowering shrub roses around these key players.
- Plant purple lavender and white sage or white lavender in patches around the edges or in the corners.
- In between, place white or violet flowering carpet thyme.
The perennial rose bed for replanting
Perennials and roses go well together because both are perennial, hardy and like nutrient-rich soil. Blue delphiniums and pink blooming roses in particular are real eye-catchers.
This time, in our example, we are assuming a rather elongated bed that is bordered by a hedge or a fence at the back.
- Place several climbing roses with climbing aids or standard roses with pink, red or white flowers directly on the hedge. In between, plant blue delphiniums.
- Next, plant a row of lavender or white or purple bluebells.
- The finale is a row of ground cover roses, blue cushions or star moss.
