In a natural garden, cotton grass is a decorative enrichment for the creatively planted bog bed. It is not so much the white flowers that cause a sensation. Rather, the woolly seeds with long, white silky hairs create a romantic appearance. You can read here about the period of time the spectacle extends over.

Cotton grass inspires with a long flowering period
Under normal weather conditions, the flowering period starts in April. At this time, rather inconspicuous, white spikes with a length of 1.5 to 3.0 cm form. In the course of May and June, the white woolly hairs develop, which can reach a length of up to 5 cm. It seems as if each flower stalk has a white wool cap on it.
Only the summer wind puts an end to the spectacle, because the silk hairs serve to spread the seeds and float away with the ripe fruits. Upon landing, the white hairs fall off the black seeds.
