The hardy wrinkled or evergreen Chinese snowball is not only a decorative eye-catcher in the winter garden. Its distinctive leaves, about 16 to 19 cm long, are hairy on the underside. Sensitive people can have an allergic reaction to these hairs.

You should therefore be a bit careful when pruning the wrinkled viburnum. Like other viburnum species, this plant is mildly toxic to humans. Consuming bark, leaves or berries triggers digestive problems. Eating a lethal dose is hardly possible given the unpleasant taste.
The poisonous parts of the plant:
- bark

tips
Prevent small children from putting the tempting fruit of the Wrinkle-leaved Viburnum in their mouths. They are just as poisonous as the other parts of the plant. Even pets should not nibble on this shrub.
