A wicker basket is a very attractive flower pot. However, it must be lined accordingly so that it is waterproof. In the following instructions, read how to plant your wicker basket step by step and which plants are suitable.

Plant the wicker basket step by step
To plant your wicker basket you will need:
- a tear-resistant film
- a wicker basket
- expanded clay
- potting soil
- plant
- moss
- Decorative material at will
1. Line the basket
So that the wicker basket does not get wet and disintegrate so quickly, you should line it. This is best done with a tear-resistant film. With this you lay out the entire bottom of the basket and fold the film over to just over the edge. It is not necessary to fix the film in place, but you can temporarily attach it to the edge with some adhesive tape to make work easier.
2. The drainage
If you have a coaster for your wicker basket, you can cut several holes in the bottom of the foil so that excess water can drain off. However, the basket will get damp from below if it is watered too much. Another option is to water sparingly and create a drainage layer as the bottom layer: To do this, put a layer of expanded clay several centimeters thick (€19.73) in your wicker basket.
3. Fill the pasture basket with soil and plant
Now fill your pasture basket two-thirds full with high-quality potting soil. Then place your plants in the desired location and fill in soil to about two centimeters below the edge.
4. Cover open spaces
So that neither bare earth nor the foil can be seen at the edge, lay out moss in the wicker basket. Alternatively, you can use pebbles, mulch (€239.00) or something else.
