In every garden there are more or less shady areas. Greening them can sometimes be very difficult - after all, most plants naturally strive for light and suffer when it is too dark. A spot in the light penumbra, on the other hand, is not a problem at all for most trees and shrubs.

Almost all trees grow in light penumbra
The gardener speaks of partial shade when the location is exposed to full sun for at least four hours a day - no matter what time of day - and is otherwise in (light) shade. On the other hand, it is a light shady spot if direct sunlight does not reach it, but scattered light from higher trees does. Full shade, on the other hand, is always a problem, since the photosynthesis that is vital for plants is not possible here, or only with difficulty. You can plant almost any tree in the (light) penumbra, for the light shade the selection is much smaller.
tips
When choosing the location, you should pay attention not only to the amount of light, but also to the composition of the soil. For example, not every tree tolerates clay soil.
