It's been raining cats and dogs outside for days, the children are on summer vacation and are bored, generally being locked up in the house with the whole family doesn't suit them. A campfire with bread on a stick and sausages would raise the spirits tremendously - it's a good thing the fire pit was built with a canopy! So nothing stands in the way of romantic pleasure.

Don't forget the deduction!
There are many construction instructions for covered fireplaces on the Internet, but quite a few of them are incorrect: they have no vent over the fire. This can quickly become dangerous, especially with materials such as bamboo, wood or plastic. If smoke and heat cannot dissipate, a large-scale fire can quickly develop. It is not enough that the sides of the covered fireplace are open, there must also be a drainage hole in the roof itself - i.e. above the fireplace. To ensure that the smoke and heat can escape but the rain cannot get in, the hood can also be made from two overlapping panels.
Build a covered fireplace - Here's how
For example, you can design a simple, covered fireplace with comfortable seating as follows:
- First measure the required area for the fireplace and a paved area.
- Mark them with string or spray paint.
- Now mark the positions of the four to six supporting legs of the roof outside of this area.
- Unpack the larger area about 30 centimeters deep.
- Fill the pit with sand or gravel.
- Position a manhole ring made of concrete in the middle.
- Now dig the holes for the legs.
- In order for these to stand securely, they should be concreted in.
- This requires a foundation of gravel or crushed stone below the legs.
- If the legs are concreted in, you can pave the area underneath.
- Finally, attach the roof to the roof using cross braces and brackets.
- This consists of several panels that are fastened overlapping in the middle.
- A hole should remain, which is designed to be rainproof due to the overlap.
Such a simple gazebo can be built both from wood, but also from metal. If you choose wood, only use weather-resistant hardwood, which you also coat with several layers of a protective glaze.

If you don't want to build it yourself or if you have two left hands, you can also buy ready-made kits for barbecue pavilions in stores.
