- Is it a disadvantage or is it more of a motivation?
- And yet there are disadvantages to the greenhouse!
There are plenty of greenhouse advantages, but finding a real disadvantage is much more difficult. If it even exists. Because many of the problems perceived as disadvantages of the greenhouse can be eliminated in the run-up to the construction preparation and at the latest during construction.

Where there is light, there is also shadow, as at least befits a high-quality greenhouse in summer, but this also applies to its advantages and disadvantages. Of course, there is a difference between building your own house and buying a prefabricated house. Common to both variants is the fact that they cost money. Sometimes this amount can be in the five-digit euro range. The cost of construction increases with the size of the greenhouse and, in addition to a stable foundation, the sometimes expensive interior should not be underestimated. But after all, it's a luxury item to some extent, so price isn't necessarily one of the greenhouse's downsides.
Is it a disadvantage or is it more of a motivation?
Preparing, building or even just erecting a prefabricated house is one of the most labor-intensive tasks. The proper and appropriate management of a garden as well. Ultimately, however, the owner can both enjoy a whole new aesthetic of their property, be able to pursue a wonderful hobby and, if they have done everything right, probably have better and safer yields than in the home garden. All year round if you want it.
And yet there are disadvantages to the greenhouse!
Once set up, there is practically nothing that can be undone, not even a poorly built foundation that may not be sufficiently stable afterwards. Other disadvantages, almost all of which can be influenced by the builder himself:
- Overconfidence: A 25-square-meter warm house is a lot in terms of construction and craftsmanship higher requirements than a covered carport.
- Cheap material: cheap almost always becomes expensive on every construction site. In view of the acrylic panels on the roofing that are becoming brittle or brown after five years, you have to ask yourself whether a higher-quality cover profile made of heat-insulating insulating glass would not have been more appropriate.
- High operating costs: They are primarily a question of the optimal location on the property, the insulating material used, but also the quality of the construction work.
tips
It is better to plan future-oriented, but still be realistic. Less is often more, and if the possibility of later expansion is taken into account during construction, this also helps to prevent any disadvantages in greenhouse construction from occurring in the first place.
