Phlox forms dense, flat cushions and blooms profusely between May and June. This makes phlox one of the typical rock garden cushions, but it is also indispensable in dry stone walls. Small species also come into their own in appropriate planters.

Whether pink, red or snow-white - Phlox fits perfectly into the rock garden

Cushion phlox is perfect for sunny and dry rock gardens

The various Phlox species feel particularly comfortable in full sun and dry locations. It is best to plant the plants in rock crevices, in dry stone cracks or in finer rubble, the carpets will then spread over the flat rock. The maintenance is very uncomplicated; Simply cut back cushions that have become too large after flowering. Only the wild species need good protection against moisture in winter. In general, however, good drainage should be ensured when planting the rock garden, as phlox and many other rock garden plants often do not tolerate excessive moisture.
