If the leaves of a Hawaii palm tree turn yellow, this can have very different reasons. Yellow leaves or the shedding of leaves usually have completely natural causes. Occasionally yellow leaves are also caused by too much sun in summer or by pest infestation.

Causes of yellow leaves on the Hawaiian palm tree
- older leaves
- too bright location in summer
- pest infestation
The Hawaiian palm has its main growing season in winter. In summer it tends to shed its leaves. These often turn yellow and then simply fall off. This is a natural process and nothing to worry about.
In the summer, the Hawaiian palm likes an outdoor space. However, it does not tolerate too much sun and heat. In this case, yellow leaves can be an indication that the location is poorly chosen. Place the pot in partial shade so that the Hawaiian palm does not receive direct sunlight.
Pest infestation, for example by spider mites, occurs mainly in winter when the room temperatures are too high or the humidity is too low.
Just tear off the yellow leaves
You can simply remove yellow leaves. They can usually be removed very easily. A whitish milky sap escapes, but it is not poisonous. The juice ensures that the wound at the tear-off site closes more quickly.
Feel free to remove yellow leaves, as this will make room for new leaves to form.
tips
The most common care mistake with Hawaiian palm trees is too much moisture in the substrate. Water a Hawaii palm only moderately and avoid waterlogging. If it gets too wet, the houseplant will suffer from a soft trunk.
