Actually, the single leaf (Spathiphyllum) is a fairly uncomplicated houseplant. Provided it is not in the blazing sun and is watered and fertilized regularly, the plant with the large, dark green leaves and the white to cream-colored flowers grows very quickly. Spathiphyllum is only very picky about one thing: the right location is therefore often not so easy to find.

Too little light can lead to green flowers on the single leaf

Spathiphyllum is right at the site

As a typical rainforest plant, the single-leaf loves the light semi-shade and often does well in shady locations. However, the plant often refuses to flower if it is too dark for it or if it does not like the location for other reasons. Especially when there is a lack of light, the plant develops green instead of white flowers, which can only be seen at second glance against the foliage of the same color. A change of location can therefore work wonders, with the single leaf feeling most comfortable in a bright but not directly sunny place.

tips

Also, don't put them too close to a wall or heater - the plant doesn't like dry air. For this reason, regular spraying with water (not the buds!) is important.
