The oleander is one of the most popular potted plants for balconies and terraces. The lush flowering shrub should be repotted annually, at least as a young plant, but older specimens only need a new planter every five to ten years.

Above all, oleander needs space in width

Choose wide rather than deep tubs for oleanders

The ideal oleander pot is rather wide than high, so that the roots have plenty of room to grow and enough water can also be stored in the substrate it contains. Narrow, tall containers such as those used for roses, on the other hand, are not suitable for oleanders. The pot is the right size if it is twice as wide and as deep as the root ball. For newly bought oleanders, on the other hand, choose a planter that is two sizes larger than the one in which you bought the shrub.

tips

It's time to repot again when the oleander no longer really wants to bloom and only grows a little or makes a miserable impression at all.
