A tall oleander in the middle of the flower is a real feast for the eyes - hardly any other plant attracts the flower as much as this impressive shrub covered in flowers. However, the oleander only unfolds its splendor when it feels good. Above all, it needs a lot of sun and warmth.

Oleander loves it warm and sunny
In summer you should place oleanders in a warm, full sun because the plant will refuse to flower if there is a lack of light and cold. Above all, make sure that the pot is protected from wind and rain, ideally with a protective house wall behind it - it is even better if the oleander is also under a roof overhang or similar, so that the sensitive flowers do not get any rain to get. In particular, the varieties with double flowers are very sensitive to rain, because the delicate flowers can turn brown and even become infected with moisture-loving fungi.
Winter as cool as possible - then oleanders can also stand in the dark
Only in winter does the evergreen oleander need little light, provided you overwinter it as coolly as possible at a maximum of five degrees Celsius. The warmer the location during the cold season, the brighter it needs to be there.
Oleander needs a lot of moisture - but not from above
Although oleanders do not tolerate rain, they still need a lot of water. During the hot summer months, you can water the shrub once or twice a day. It also doesn't hurt if the saucer is full of water under the pot and the plant has wet feet. Many a connoisseur of Italy may now object that the free-growing oleanders grow on bone-dry soil in their homeland. Rest assured: it only seems that way to you. The plant prefers to grow in bodies of water where the groundwater level is comparatively low. The roots go very deep, so that the oleander gets the water it needs directly from the ground.
tips
In cold and rainy summers, the oleander flower can fail - after all, the shrub only flowers when it is warm and sunny enough. In this case, it is best to place the plant in a sufficiently lit conservatory.
